I am by no means an expert, like whatsoever, but here's my advice anyway
Start with succulents like cacti or jades. Jades look nicer, cacti are more durable. Then move on to cheap small bonsai tree type plants like snow roses. This way you can learn how to care for plants without it being to much of a hit on your wallet if you kill one. Once you get good at taking care of them, just keep going bigger and more extravagant.
Invest in a spray bottle that can mist, and a small bottle of liquid fertilizer (miracle grow makes something called "houseplant food" that works nice).

Honestly you can look up care instructions online, but the most important thing to take away from this is to start cheap and easy so that you don't waste a fuck ton of money on something that you end up killing.

Advice?

Get something fabric like a flag, those look good on wooden walls. posters and pictures will only look good in frames that go well with the wood on the walls. Get a muted color comforter, something like a dark green is what I would get. Also invest in a rustic looking carpet.

Really the best way to make this room look nice given the conditions is to make it look like some cozy cabin in the mountains, so I would start looking for inspo related to that.
