Besides from the weird background, you have somewhat incongruous torso( the top is fairly fitted while the bottom is so baggy), ugly ass Nike sweatpants, and Rick Dunks seemingly thrown into the fit for no reason beyond them being Rick dunks. The pants aren't even bad because they are Nike but just to baggy to fit int with everything else. Everything from the waist down just seems like an after thought which is unfortunate because the top half is pretty nice from what I can tell.

Checking against other pants issued this season, I assume it's a wool/mohair that a lot of the bottoms used. Up close, it looks like a lightweight suiting fabric, but the mohair probably adds a nice bouncy drape to it.

Dunks aren't a "mockery" at all, they are a recognition and reimagining of the original Nike Dunks, same with a lot of Ricks classic pieces they are tips of the hat to some of his biggest inspirations. IMO using mockery to describe Ricks reworking of those classic pieces to fit into his universe is an insult. I see what you're trying to say but you're coming off way to opinionated and I'm starting to get bored.

I know you sort of want a "loose" fit but I'm afraid of crossing that line and looking like a child in a fat man's clothes. I'm short and thin and generally wear size small/44 or 46, so should I just look at the measurements of my usual clothes and tack on a few inches when looking at potential purchases?

I own a lot of JJVE.

His tops are mostly very big, if they're OS. I own the ss hoodies, and theyre very big on me.

However, the trousers can be a bit more fitted. I have them in M and I'm a 33 waist, and they're actually perfect. Not swimming in them, not slim fit.

JJVE is my fav designer and I would absolutely recommend copping anything by him. All wonderful quality too.

Really wanted these pants but realised styling them beyond 2 fits would be a challenge

To be honest pretty much all high fashion brands use baggy / wide pants as a feature for the past while.

As far as cheaper brands go, not many have embraced wider fits as they involve far more difficult processes/designs than slim fitting clothing to achieve flattering silhouettes. Cos has just moved into some interesting things recently involving oversized clothing, while obvious go to's like levis can provide excellent wider fits for cheap.

Yohji and Comme Des Garcons (the former much more than the latter) have stuck with it the longest compared to most. Since they've basically been doing this since the 80s they have a great grasp on it, for pants yohji is essential and very easy to acquire cheaply (think $100 - 150 constantly), his outerwear is his strong point but good luck finding anything noteworthy from pour homme for a cheaper price.
