If you have sensitive skin it's best to avoid products that contain sulfates. It's also good to use little enough to get the dirt and grease off without foaming. Even if you use moisturizer afterwards it's not good to dry your skin that drastically.

i swear micro scars and micro tears are bandied about so fucking munch but nbody knows what the fuck they even mean. micro scars would be so inconsequential that they wouldnt even be scars. scars are areas of fibrous tissue that replace normal skin after injury. it would literally slough off as the skin regenerates.

in general, mild chemical exfoliation (salicylic/mandelic/glycolic/lactic acid et c) is more suitable for the average person than mechanical dermabrasion/microdermabrasion (various crystals/sand/microparticles et c).

the above is especially true outside of clinical settings, and if you wish to treat the skin a bit more carefully. it's also especially true if the mechanical dermabrasion uses, say, ordinary salt crystals or coffee grounds. those particles are much bigger than what is used in clinical dermabrasion. it will not be as effective, and your skin will probably be irritated by it as well.

there's no need for the average person to use mechanical dermabrasion at home.

just get a good cleanser, and a good chemical exfoliator (preferably with salicylic/lactic acid). that should take good care of the excess "dead skin".

>>9990703
yup. just consider some kind of exfoliation if you have acne and if your skin isn't too sensitive. if you want to save money: just go for the cleanser and the sunscreen.

I have the exact same skin type as the pic (google froggen for more examples)
basically my face is very red compared to my neck/rest of my body. I'm not sure why it is but its kind of a constant flushed look/sunburned (even though its 100% not sunburn). I've been moisturizer more than often but not seeing much results. Any products in particular to help fight this? Should also note whenever I wake up in the morning my skins tone looks perfect and healthy.

My skincare routine is

Cetaphil wash (the face & body one) -> Paula's Choice BHA -> Cetaphil moisturizer (the thick cream)

I've been keeping this up for several months now, but my acne is not going away.

>> No.9990969

>>9990962
consider switching to the lighter lotion, as the cream is not "meant" to be used on the face. rather for cracked elbows and feet and stuff. the thick cream could contribute to your acne. you don't need a cream if you already have an oily face.

try the above and maybe switching to stridex or adding some benzoyl peroxide, or just using more of the pc bha. tried going to a derm?

It's a common misconception that acne is a disease limited to puberty, and that if you still have it once you're out of puberty then it's there to stay. Almost half of all women and men still have acne in their 20s, but prevalence drops steadily as we age.

I use this along with Oxy face wash. They both have 10 percent BP, but I guess after using them for so long it doesn't dry out my skin so much.

I leave a light mask on before I go to bed or if I'm going to chill at home for a while. I also try to drink an ass load of water every day. I panic if I don't have at least on clear piss a day.

What I need is a facial moisturizer that won't leave my face feeling oily. Something that will help keep my skin looking "young". I'm a 23yo black male, and many people take me for a 17-19yo. I don't have a baby face, but I'd like to maintain the young look for a while.

I also avoid touching my face. I'm usually on the verge of tears if I notice even the smallest blemish. I'd like to achieve being 100 percent blemish free, but I fear I'll never reach that goal.

There is an idea of who I am, some kind of abstraction, but there is no real me, only an entity, something illusory, and though I can hide my cold gaze and you can shake my hand and feel flesh gripping yours and maybe you can even sense our lifestyles are probably comparable: I simply am not there.

Due to my Mediterranean genes, I'm a hairy gorilla. My body gets covered in thick wolfman-like hair, which looks cringey as fuck and is very uncomfortable not to mention unnecessary in this hot tropical weather so I have to shave my whole body (including my legs) at least once every month.

Because of that, I get nasty-looking and painful razor burns and I have gross painful zits on my ass-cheeks that the razor-burn makes worse.

I could really use some help. What products or tips do you recommend /fa/?

Not necessarily. I'm just saying that it's more important to use a sunscreen during the day than using a moisturizer during the night, in order to prevent a major factor to skin aging: UV exposure. I would prefer using both though, to keep the skin hydrated and pliable at all times.

For products in Sweden and nearby, this list is good:
https://www.reddit.com/r/NordicSkinCare/comments/34f24n/the_ultimate_list_of_swedish_skincare/

You could also order some products from Amazon.de if you're willing to pay the retard tax.

>>9991189
You should absolutely not take more than what has been prescribed by your doctor. If you feel that you may need to change your dosage, you should talk to your doc. You do not want to overdose on isotretinoin. 40 mg/day is a dose that is actually viable (and used) after a couple of months though, and it's a bit strange that you haven't gotten to that dosage yet. See the chap below you @ 100 mg daily.

Talk to your doc. If you're unconvinced a particular plan of action he's decided is the wisest - tell him so! But allow him to convince you, and I promise you, right here and now, no subject will ever be taboo.

See another doc if you're not content, for a second opinion.

I think AHA might aggravate it. Erythema is a possible side-effect of AHA chemical peels. It also constitutes an irritation, so that's why I think it could make it worse actually... I'll try to delve deeper into this. I promise.

Your red marks after previous acne lesions ("post-inflammatory erythema") /must/ be protected from UVA/UVB exposure through the use of sunscreen. They'll fade over time. Can take up to a year. If you want to cover them up as well, then use a spot concealer. Laser is an option.

>>9991464
Sounds like combination skin.
Issues with dry areas as well as oily areas.
You probably need to treat the different areas in different ways. In general: heavier moisturizers on the dry areas; anti-acne/oil-absorbing stuff on the oily parts. Just search for "combination skin" and you'll be on your way.

Short hairs emerging from the pores. Covered in somewhat soft sebum. They become darker (and harder) after a while as a byproduct of oxidation and melanin deposition. Do you recognize this?

I hear people say stuff like "Drink more water", which is fine. But what exactly does this do to make your face look better?

Also, I'm unhygenic as fuck and have realized that and am looking to change, FAST. Could I see good results in how clear my skin looks in a few months minimum (In it for the long haul, too. Just wondering) and that's going based off the fact my skin actually isn't THAT bad. I seldom get acne despite being gross.

I've got some sunscreen, showering 2 times a day now, sometimes 3-4 depending on if I work out/if it's blazing hot. (But the extra ones are usually just to rinse the sweat off), and a rag to exfoliate.

Also, I'm a pale, ivory skinned skeletor because I've been inside for a long time without getting much sun. Will getting a nice tan help out a bit?

current progress

My current routine is cerave hydrating cleanser, cetaphil lotion, target brand 2% SA and 10% BP, morning and night. Best product I've used is tazorac, but I can't get it on my insurance anymore. Generally, I'll have 1-2 blemishes on my face, but nothing like the cystic shit I used to get. Although, if I ever get lazy or stuck without my stuff, I'll always get 1 or 2 new bumps (sometimes cysts).

biggest mistake ever was getting products marketed towards "oily skin". My mom used to get me all sorts of alcohol-based shit and those awful oil-absorbing papers, and she never taught me to moisturize. I've accepted that my skin is going to be naturally oily and my main focus is keeping my skin healthy.

idk guys, tips? I want to find a mask or something that i can use occasionally for a deep clean.

My skin used to be incredibly oily as well.

The two things that helped me the most were not drying my skin out by cleaning it too often and using the right moisturizer. I use the same cleanser/moisturizer you do though.

I also rub Aloe Vera leaves directly onto my face once a week. I let the gel sit there for 30-45 minutes before washing it off and then I moisturize. So that could've been what helped my skin be less oily as well.

have you tried going to a derm? you should do that and try some antifungals. proven efficacy for that condition.

as for the other stuff:
>bar soap
did you try ordinary alkaline-fat soap (bad), or one with synthetic detergents (generally good)?

>Facial washers just scrape away my skin and make it redder
have you tried those formulated to take good care of sensitive skin?

>Moisturizers make my skin greasy and the rashes get worse
you could try a water-based (humectant) moisturizer. there are moisturizers designed for skin conditions like different kinds of dermatitis.

what products have you tried previously?

I think you should see a derm if you haven't done so already. if that haven't worked, then you should see another one

-malin goetz grapefruit face cleanser
-malin goetz vitamin e face moisturizer (or m+g spf moisturizer mixed in, but not too much because its oily)

In addition to those, I consume 2 large spoonfuls of vitamineral green every day (with water or tea), 1 spoonful of coconut oil, and drink at least 5 glasses of water (including tea w/ no sweeteners)

As long as I make sure to wash my face daily, don't touch it (easy to do when stressed) and eat relatively healthy (low sugar, less carbs, less red meats) I get away with pretty darn clear skin

My skin is naturally very oily on my forehead/nose and then incredibly dry around my mouth/jaw. I still clean/treat the areas exactly the same and it seems to have balanced out the oiliness and the dryness at the same time.

I use Cerave foaming facial cleanser, morning and night.
I use Neutragena 2-in-1 Lotion/sunscreen in the morning but Cetaphil lotion during the night.

To actively treat your acne and sebaceous filaments, use Stridex Maximum Strength Pads. Use them once at night, every night. (Cleanse, Use pads, lotion - In this order)

As with any new routine, your skin may take time to adjust. This is what has worked for me though.

Use a sunscreen to discourage future melanin production. Consider using products dedicated to "skin whitening" containing ascorbic acid (vitamin c), nicotinamide, hydroquinone, or alpha-hydroxy acids. Sort by reviews on Amazon.

>>10011754
YES AND NO. You could use "heavier" and more efficient stuff at night though, and other products with all kinds of different magical chemicals that rejuvenates the skin - but it will work good as a moisturizer. But if you're concerned about unnecessary nighttime exposure to somewhat controversial chemical sunscreen ingredients that this and many other sunscreens feature, then you should opt for something else.

>>10010444
The cream is much "heavier". Much more likely to make your face look shiny. Intended for other body parts actually. But it can safely be used at night as hopefully no one is looking at you.

>>10010415
Eeee, it does do that if you allow it to dry your skin (all kinds of skin issues arising from that). If you combine BP usage with a good moisturizer then this shouldn't be such a big factor afaik. Tretinoin is great at slowing down/reversing skin aging.

>>10010360
Treatable? Hm. They will continuously be created by your skin. Quite normal process. It's a bit controversial whether they should be "treated" or not. Not quite considered a distinct bad thing, but I think it is since a lot of people do not want to have them.

Use AHA, BHA, or ascorbic acid to lessen their appearance. A highly revised "Oil Cleansing Method" could work as well. See:

>>/fa/thread/S9868700#p9873506

>>/fa/thread/S9418786#p9428735

>>10010341
Congratulations on improving.. BP is an exfoliant. This it will help your skin shed excessive skin residues. This is probably what you're seeing (the stuff is probably "corneocytes", dirt, and melanin).

>>10010300
Patch test = good idea.
The user is much more likely to become irritated by most other skin care products than those, though.

you have very sensitive skin (i have similar skin)

try a different moisturizer, or don't use any if you don't have to (it might have irritants)

wear hats in the sun, maybe try to find an spf that doesn't irritate (probably hard)

drink lots of water and exercise

tanning (even moderately) helps a lot if you can manage

basically don't do ANYTHING to your face (don't get it wet in the shower, don't soap it, don't do anything) if it's really dirty try cetaphil gentle cleanser, and probably only at night (since it will probably dry/irritate your face, but this way you can sleep while it's irritated)

I'm so fucking frustrated my closed comedones/blackbeads have never gone away no matter what

I get a facial once a month where an esthetician extracts some blackheads but she cannot do anything for the closed comedones because they're not at the surface yet. (She also mentions that I get really deep blackheads, which is something she's rarely seen except in old people whove never had facials before). I use dermalogica cleanser & oil-control moisturizer, and 3 times a week I use a cotton pad and swipe 2% salicylic acid all over my face. After all of this I apply tretinoin that my derm prescribed. I got the product the next day, but I didn't try it out today (didn't leave the house during the day for three days so I didn't really feel like trying it out)

Alright, so, my reactions are positive. My skin isn't oily anymore at the end of a work day which is really what i wanted (with the added protection of course, that's a plus). I guess the added zinc is doing its work?

(the other cream i used before which was eucerin q10 active day cream did give me a very oily skin at the end of the day. Just to clarify, I do feel that that cream works good on my skin because it doesn't irritate and keeps it soft, but yeah, it kind of bothered me that it gave me such oily skin, plus it doesn't have any sunscreen in it)

It also didn't irritate my skin in any way or gave me any redness or anything like that.

I'm curious to see how it'll react in the sunlight though (it was grey/rainy today), maybe it'll make my skin oily or something idk, il'l see

Also, has anyone tried the foam wash?
