well the anime is just the perfect coming-of-age story. It's essentially about young boys who try to find their place in the ruthlessly competitive world of professional table tennis.
the two protagonists are best friends even though they are quite the opposite in character. shit got me crying in certain scenes.
also the manga finally got an english release in two big volumes. check that out too
