yes these semi-anonymous sites are too easy to use and are killing forums cause you have to put more effort into forums, not only to find them but to create something useful that people will actually care about, while on a site like instagram you just need to take (or find) a nice picture or whatever, no need to present an interesting viewpoint or idea etc. and ppl just use that instead to feel social or like they have interests in common.

by semi-anonymous I mean you don't really have any reason to present your real beliefs or ideas cause you're always just looking for followers or likes or whatever, so you're more of a concept or a style meant for other people to like rather than an actual human being with a complex personality.

reddit is especially weird cause you can be reading a thread and two comments saying basically the same thing have completely different amount of votes and it's just chaos. it's as if individual comments "catch on" by some magic and get tons of votes for no logical reason while others are ignored.
