I'm thinking of saying fuck it and going a tad shorter, and then using a texturizer and accepting a messy look.

The way I see it, unless your hair is PLASTERED with hairspray, your hair WILL fall out of place during the day. And without a mirror, you have no control where it goes. All these models have hair that stays in place for one pic. They can't actually walk around like that. Better to go for a messy look in the first place, so everything is normal. Pic related I guess. Might try it.
