Rolex day-date in yellow gold, for sure. I've known several people who have done this, and after decades it still looks great. The stainless steel isn't versatile, it's just less formal.

Glad you asked, Fren. Here on /wt/, there are watch enthusiasts who have recognizable collections; these might be focusing on specific aspects of horology, or perhaps a specific brand, or even just a collection of valuable and/or unusual pieces. When any of these owners post a pic of their watch, they might be recognized by other anons who frequent this board, and internal pleasantries may be traded. A very kind Fren decided to make this picture of me, and it is quite accurate.

In addition to this, there are Anons here who express their concern and/or disapproval of the watches, the collectors of said pieces, and/or the general issue of wealth as it pertains to this subject. This has resulted in a 'Punch and Judy' scenario on this board which is as predicable as an unloved season.

What are you wearing today, Fren?

Ah, the Tudor. Are you having a gute nacht, freund? I hope you are staying safe.

Most of my Omegas come from prior to the Chinese connection; that's one of the reasons I prefer vintage. But there's nothing actually wrong with Chinese parts; as long as they are made well and function correctly. It's their quality control that usually suffers though if you buy an actual Chinese watch (i.e. my poor Seagull 1963 was rather dusty when I got it).

Well, the difference though is that with a company like Rolex, they make it more difficult to change to different bracelets, and changing out to straps tend to make the watches look awful proportionally due to the placement of the holes. It's sad...but understandable. They want their watches to always look as they did when sold.

There was only one I think; this one.

Thanks Fren, but I actually sold it years ago when I was building my final collection. As I said, it had the downside that it wasn't efficient in winding if you were more sedentary. All of my other watches wind better, except of course the 2254.50 which uses the same movement (Omega 1120, which is the modified 2892-A).
