i'm very envious of people with effective cartoony styles, haha; i love stylized drawings, but i feel like my attempts to simplify just end up looking awkward/uncanny. drawing from life is super educational and rewarding, especially if you don't put pressure on yourself to make the end product presentable.

r crumb is very #insp, but as far as line placement goes, i'm disciple of moebius. crumb's crosshatching effectively creates a wide range of tones, but moebius's contour-following-hatching really plays up ink's main strength as a medium; the ability to describe form.

early junji ito really inspires me with his wobbly, boxy inks; his forms sort of remind me of lukas's work, actually.
