It has a wet cell. When two different metals with different electronegativities are placed in water, they create a small current. This watch has a small reservoir that you fill up under a sink or wherever. Depending on the temperature and humidity you have to water it every few days or so.

It's a water activated watch. The power is a wet cell; putting the watch under a tap it in a glass of water for a few seconds fills up the cell and allows current to flow. Was pretty cool taking the watch out of the envelope with the screen blank, watering it, and seeing it come to life.
