Cause spezzato is a thing.

That's a blazer, not an orphaned suit jacket. "Spezzato" means broken, it’s the italian art of mixing and matching elements of different suits - or a sport coat and trousers separate/denim/chinos/fatigues/what have you - to come up with a brand new fit.

Behind this usually lies a desire to dress up an outfit without appearing too up-tight. Even here in Italy, wearing a blazer and a tie makes you stick out like a sore thumb most of the time (as a general rule of thumb, only bankers and lawyers wear suits), not that I care but I often try to defuse the formality of the fit to avoid looking like a tryhard. Also, comfort.
