There are also vintage watches with enamel, modern ones tend to be fairly highly priced, yet a Tisell will have one and cost 200.

Looks like someone with new money and zero horological knowledge read a GQ article and bought "the perfect 5 watch collection" over a weekend.

Damasko goes hard with their bang for buck, putting all thier meme tech even in lower pieces, but their dial design is straight...shit. I could probably sit on the fence between the DS30 and 556A (dont like the "I" dial) for ages, waiting for a good price on either. I love the 556A dial, but I would probably still opt for the Damasko, seeing as Sinn are turbojews (500 bucks for a domed sapphire) and the comparable 856 goes for double the DS30.

I wanted some light reading about watch repair, I bought George Daniels Watchmaking, unknowingly. Damn, son, I liked geometry in school, but I could probably never get the hang of it. Do you have a specialization in mind?

Intricate dial, hands, case shape. You can do simplicity, but still pretty. That shit is just straight up BORING with zero idea. The classic fault with old school swissmade fags that cannot move on.

The SWISS MADE laws are extremely lax as is, if someone was reeeeing, they must have been extremely (chosen people) or just poorfags trying to get in on the market.

Take a heavy breather and a cold shower or five. Let the experience seep in a bit, look around, see what triggers your aesthetic autism and what you like, the more you see, the better of an understanding for your personal tastes you can develop (and thus have a harder time finding what actually ticks for you, but hey, searching is most of the fun, saving up and looking for the grail is the rest). You will most likely come up with a few very specific requirements, none of which will make logical sense, but a single pusher chrono with a thin bezel and 34mm diameter is just something you cannot apply logic to when looking to spend money on shit that will make you happy.

This guy has a point. Most of those companies either have yuge factories and/or milk the "SWISS MADE" law to the max and sell chink made shit that some migrant put in a case in switzerland, then charge ridiculous money for it because brand name and swiss made quality meme. Same goes for a lot of "MADE IN GERMANY" brands that ride the wave of bygone eras (Stowa) while selling watches with basic movements in china-made cases with a several 100 markup on top of the cost of the parts and assembly, because they can (not blaming them, but it limits your options).
At least long jeans is trying (and failing) to bring back some of their historic pieces, most other companies churn out the same uninspired boring shit. Rado is especially criminal for charging 1200 for ceramics with quartz movements.
Like anon said, some microbrands are good indicator of how much separate watch parts and assembly with qc with a little markup can cost, and keep in mind the larger companies are buying the parts in much larger quantities, thus even lower prices, so higher markups which they then spend on advertising.

What was his point, exactly? Realizing him being a moron for buying brand-name shit and getting jewed in the process? How does that warrant a 10 minute rant video, running out of breath and cussing out his audience?

Seems like an unhappy man, then again, I probably would be too, if I was British.

Im sure the CNC and other workers in the factory are old artisans who come down from the rural mountains to do bergjuden space magic, instead of minimum-wage migrants from ex-yugo, turkey, arabia or eastern block.

Yea, he does sound like a little bish. Diamond encrusted gold watches are tacky, but the luxury market was always filled with overpriced gaudy garbage.

If they werent charging 1200 for that and went with a clean dial, they could rival Stowa or Tourby, but nooo, muh factory worn distressed bullshit.
