That’s fair, though I think i prefer what it became, because while being for show is cool and honestly they looked badass (pic related). But as the war progressed, they became a proper fighting force, pioneering mechanized infantry and becoming the interesting role of being the foreign legion. I mean everyone likes to paint nazis as these white psychopaths who killed all who weren’t blond or blue eyed, but the reality was you had sikhs, Turks, Spaniards, Frenchmen, actual nords, finns, Americans, and even Slavs fighting for them. All volunteer too, which is rather interesting. Plus they proved a valuable testbed for real experimental shit, like mass produced camouflage and assault rifles
