I like incense, but I honestly find the smell of heavily-incensed rooms very unappealing.Smells like mix of fire, flowers, and wet dog. Plus it bears the connotations of being a worthless hippy and/or weed-head.

Some here and there is fine, but too much and it becomes overpowering. Potpourri is a much better alternative. Smells nice without being overpowering, and you can always just remove it from the room. And it has that touch of middle-aged-woman class.
