No, get a proper field watch. It doesn't cost very much at all. You can get them for less than 400 but you have a much, much better piece that you'll be a lot happier with in the long run.

Nah i got pic related it's the handwinding version. Can't they just cut off the old crown and solder a new one? Sounds like a lot fo work I think I'm just gonna accept the watch as it is.

OK, here's a good example. The Hamilton Field Khaki Mechanical No-Date.
It's hand-winding. Hamilton resisted the urge to make it 42mm and automatic and give it a date and festoon it with all sorts of branding bullshit. It looks close-enough to the mil spec versions without being a too-small-for-today-34mm.
It's got the aged-tritium faux patinated lume, but it's not applied gratuitously like on current Panerai or Tudor.

Watch guys universally love it.
It's like 500 bucks.

Why the fuck are the lugs so long? Tried one today and the lug gaps are just too distracting. Any other field/military watch alternatives? Preferably <40mm

Thoughts?

I just want a smallish field watch like pic related (38mm) that has 200m water resistance. I'm not into divers I hate rotating bezels.
Any suggestions?
