I guess I just like the occasional extravagant garment. Those always strike me as middling chinos with aesthetically out-of-place pockets stuck on the side.
The cargo is about history and military/tactical design, for me. Sometimes I'll look at a really well made far out piece and I can see the functions that come out of the form, I can see foreign armies moving under canopy or pilots rising to the flight deck from an angular metal tomb. I see a story, and I like a garment that can tell a story, regardless of what papa Ricky says on the matter.
You have to couch garments like this within the context of fits that give them the license they need to exist and flaunt their detail. If the rest of your fit is an interlocking piece with a singular mind, you can take these risks with less fear. When you pull it off, your rewards will justify your initial failures.
