Zimmerman = 1/2 white 1/2 Mexican man who shot Trayvon, was portrayed by the media as white to race bait though. They also tried to say he was racist even though he went out of his way in the past to protect young African-American men from police brutality (look into it, he volunteered with many groups)

He was in the Neighborhood Watch in his community. He saw Trayvon "acting suspiciously" and called 9/11. 9/11 told him not to engage. Trayvon saw him watching and tried to run away. Zimmerman followed, in his truck, into an alleyway. He was still on the phone at this point with the 9-1-1 operator (emergency dispatch).

He then hung up. The story, so far as we know, is that Martin then approached and assaulted him. After obtaining injuries to both his nose and back of his head (hit the concrete), Zimmerman shot Martin once and killed him.
