imo I'd approve of that situation if it happened on a large scale. For example, Zara getting somehow past copyright laws and being allowed to do direct copies of runway pieces, rather than being forced to make arbitrary, tasteless adjustments to avoid litigation

I think it would undermine the cancerous fuckboy mentality (wearing clothes for signal value instead of curating any developed aesthetic sensibility) which has sunk its claws into rtw. the signal value of an expensive, hyped piece is lost when everyone assumes you just got the easily available $50 "1:1" rip, forcing them to refine their hype towards a more personal sense of luxury, like the quality fetishism of visvim fanboys


In general, I think clinging to authorship is regressive cancer so the ethical appeals against copying doesn't move me
