Okay. Quick points about /fa/ motorcycle riding.

Cafe racers are /fa/. Cruisers are cool but usually have a bit too much "middle-aged loser"-image. Sport bikes are definitely not /fa/ and should be left to 1) people who want to go really fast on a track, 2) people who want to go have a really uncomfortable riding position on the street. Street bikes are OK - they're not /fa/ but they're not shit either.

When it comes to gear, don't cheap out. The helmet is the most important piece. Wear a full helmet - there are no excuses.

Schott NYC make great jackets, but they're essentially the same as they were 50 years ago and as such they lack modern protection. You'll at least want to get a back protector even if it'll get a bit hot.

Denim jeans are not acceptable. Skidding with them on will turn your legs into road crayons anyway. Get kevlar jeans, preferrably by Draggin (https://www.dragginjeans.net/).). Seriously, do it.

When it comes to boots, you're going to want something sturdy. They need to go up above the ankles and they need to be a tight fit. You don't want them to come off if you start skidding. Steel-toe boots are also recommended.

I personally use a pair of Red Wing Engineer Boots (model 2268).

Other than the Triumph Bonneville, Harley-Davidson builds the most beautiful two-wheeled machines in the world.

But that's about it. Harley-Davidson also builds the most outdated, unreliable pieces of junk you'll see outside of some shitty Indian factory.

People who buy Harleys generally buy into the brand, not the motorcycle itself. I really want a Harley just to look cool, but no. The downsides are really just not worth it.

The best cruisers on the market right now are built by Victory. They're a lot better than Harleys and cheaper too, but there's something with them that just seems "off" and vulgar about the design. Not that it matters because I can't afford to buy one anyway.
