I won't be trying to have it serviced any time soon, it's too rare. It still runs +30 to 40 seconds per day, but runs consistently. It's a real pain having a tuning fork watch run fast, since you can't set the hands backwards - after a few days, I have to advance the hands almost twelve hours to get it back to the right time.

I assume this >>13910639 was a post made in the spirit of sarcasm, given the visibly worse movement finishing. It's also not running great - it runs 30-40spd depending on position. That positional variance is actually about right for a 214, but the average rate is of course way off spec. It needs a service, but finding people willing to work on a 214 is hard enough, let alone willing to work on a Slava.

don't drink alone, anon.

Good news for me - my Slava finally budged after being stuck in Russia postal tracking for weeks.

This is the most recent purchase, currently inbound from Russia. It's a slava transistor, an unauthorized and unlicensed copy of the bulova 214. It's actually a fantastic achievement that they made any at all, given how difficult creating the index wheels is. However, they eventually had to stop - the rail lines nearby in the city caused enough disruption to destroy most of the index wheels they tried to make. Not too common in working condition - a lot of them have replacement coils (or more) from a real bulova. They also made some models with date, retrofitting a date onto the 214 design.

This page has some decent details on the unlicensed accutron clones.
