Start with pants. Get him a nice pair of jeans that fit. Also, you're gonna have to take him shopping rather than just buying him stuff because you gotta figure out what size he is.

Next get him some plain tee shirts that fit and encourage him to wear those. If he won't give up the band shirts at least try and find some that are cool looking.

A denim jacket is always in style and is pretty versatile.

What does he look like? Is he very clearly mixed race? Could he pull off Omar Rodriguez Lopez's look like picrelated, slim collard shirts, waistcoats, slacks?
