I'm very tempted to get one of the fancy new 960fps smartphones to get some tuning fork videos.

It lasts about a year, in my experience. The tuning fork runs at 720hz (and the index wheel advances every half-oscillation, see the webm), and Omega designed the asymmetric fork to supposedly reduce the power consumption.

It was the most tightly-specced tuning fork watch, rated at 30spm vs the 60spm of other tuning fork watches.

It uses a pair of index fingers to advance an index wheel twice per complete fork oscillation, unlike other tuning fork watches that advance it only once. It then uses a set of magnetic gears to transmit the impulse to the gear train. Omega actually made a model of the escapement for customer education, which I managed to find on ebay.

In fact, because it has a totally different indexing design than the other tuning fork watches, it ticks 1440 times per second. It is to my knowledge the third-smoothest movement design in history, after springdrive/piaget 700p and Seiko 5s21/5s42.
