what kind of soil mix is it potted in? tropical/humid environment will be good, once it gets comfortable it should start putting out leaves fairly regularly.

I'm a bit of a sucker for caucidiforms right now, that fat woody base can look pretty neat. it's like a little, natural bonsai. one site I like for them is out-of-africa-plants. some people just think they're ugly as sin though.
