Make horizontal cuts with a fresh razor blade about an inch or two apart. Pull the vertical threads out with tweezers or fingers. Put through a short wash cycle. Presto.

Or tie the leg holes shut and fill the jeans full of gravel. Close the waist, tie the jeans to a short length of rope and drag them around rough terrain for pic related. Dragging with a bicycle or car will speed things along.

Then I shall start threads and show off what I've done. I'm going to start on one of the legs tomorrow. Just saying I'm doing it entierly by hand, except the big zigzag stitches so this will take a while.

Find a small zipper you like and remove the little staple thing with plyers. Remove the zipper fly and you'll have two zipper halves to use. Trim to length if needed. Just sew them in with two parallel lines.

You should get some black jeans from a thrift store. Any will do so long as they fit. Next you will need patch material. Lightweight canvas, more denim, good leather from a fugly jacket, plaids from pj bottoms. Whatever you want. Just 'never' make really small patches. Minimum size would be like a rolling paper package or like that leather logo patch on the back of your jeans. Easier to work with, looks better. Look at other peoples stuff for an idea. For thread, you can use cotton or unwaxed artificial sinew. Or dental floss if you want white. But that is over done. Never use nylon as it is way too shiny.
Next step is tricky
You may either A) cut the jeans into booty shorts and do the patches that way. But you must have the jean measurements written down for obvious reasons. Better yet you can carefully deconstruct the leg panels to patch over the existing denim. Which will be hot in the summer. I'm doing just that with a little inspo I got from Jun Takahashi, pic related. Trying to eliminate the overhearing factor with the shredded holes and shirt cotton underneath to balance out the heavier patching over the existing denim. There's nothing to it. Just remember: Fucking think before you cut holes or sew a patch. Don't go crazy with forcing it to look crustasfuck. You'll fuck up for sure.
