Well, depends on the model (from the sock model, to the colored tongue, to the monochrome...) and what you wear with it.

In Milano I saw this one 40-50yo man wearing them with a pair of jeans, plaid dress shirt and a nice sweater over it.
Obviously didn't work.
Maybe from a huge distance they might look like a regualr pair of boots (very weird ones, nonetheless) but when you come up close it's just... weird.
