I bought a Seiko watch with the 4r36 automatic, day date movement and the salesperson was talking a lot about how I need to be careful with winding it at a specific time, setting it in a specific order and how I have to "break it in". It all sounded esoteric to me like they were just bored and wanted someone to talk to. Is there actually something to it? Are there special instructions for using an automatic day date movement?

So far my only mechanical watch is a 3 hand, handwound, no date so as simple as it gets.
