There are Anons here who know more about them than I do, and they were kind enough to provide me with reading material regarding the history, aesthetic choices and designs, their supremacy just before the quartz revolution compared to the Swiss mechanicals, etc. I'm sure if you ask, someone will have the links (this was about a year ago).

I'm sold on their tech (SpringDrive), and on their business motivations. Their aesthetic has never spoken to me, and the closest thing that appeals is one of those Credors with a porcelain dial. One of my work colleagues has a Springdrive (power reserve model, don't know what it's called), and it looks fucking amazing in person (due to the precision of the finishing); naturally, it looks like shit on my wrist, so it further cemented in my mind that it's not a watch that I could ever enjoy.

There's only one boutique in my city, and I haven't been to it yet. I planned to go, but Corona got in the way. There's no way to tell Anon until you put it on your wrist; only then can you know if something truly isn't for you or if it's just not for you in your head.

For me now, I'm just saving until I get the watches I truly want. I'm waiting on one now from Japan (delayed due to Coronashit); if it fits and my watchmaker gives it the go-ahead, I'll post it here (and I'm prepared for the shellacking I'm going to inevitably get). I don't care though; having a watch and talking about the real-world problems or joys of wearing it is at least better than speculating about something from afar.

If you can, just try on Seikos every chance, even if they're not a model you'd think of in a pic. You never know what will work on your wrist until it's there.
