I stopped smoking weed for the most part when I got serious about losing weight. When I do occasionally indulge, I just make sure I have healthier options like fruit or premade meals ready. I also don't keep snacks in my house, but I'll go on a 15 minute jog up hills to Tim's for a bagel or something similar if I really can't control it. Obviously that doesn't negate it, but if you have to work for your food you think twice about how much you want it.
With alcohol, it's easier because I'm usually drinking at a friends house or I'm out and about. I don't have the money to be buying a ton of high calorie food, or if I do I limit myself to one thing and eat less calories the next day.
Basically don't be afraid to indulge occasionally, life is about having fun. If you're doing really well most days relax a little every so often, it's good for your health (plus I find I usually drop after eating at/just above maintenance, it's like my body realizes I'll continue feeding it so it let's go of stubborn weight)
