but since this is real life and real things are taken into consideration, after owning a dozen 'real leather' boots and wearing them often enough, leather is the tryhard way to go.

Do you need to look like a reenactor or can you go with something comfortable, light, practical? Danner makes excellent leather boots, but demand is for their tactical/military boots to look more like this because it's more functional. Rule of thumb, if function is sacrificed for aesthetic, you're going down tryhard way
