I'm the one who originally asked about the Merchant and yeah, I started feeling differently pretty fast after finding pics like this.
Leaning towards the Beckman now.

for those of you considering the RW merchant, i would strongly advise looking at a lot of the break in photos online, the unstructed toe box looks like total dogshit in my opinion with all that creasing

are these the red wing merchants? i see a lot of people creaming their pants over these. I feel like theres an important detail that people should know about these, that rarely gets mentioned: they have an unstructured toe box. boots like the iron ranger and beckan have a structured toe box, which means it is very hard, if you press your fingers against it, it doesnt really budge. but with an unstructured toe box, the entire toe area is very soft (kind of like clarks desert boots), which may not matter to some people, but you get WAY worse creasing over time on an unstructured toe box. they end up looking like pic related after 6 months or so.
