I can assure you it's not. 40mm is Submariner size. Just picture your 40mm dress watch next to a Submariner. The dial opening on your watch would look gigantic next to the Sub. It's all proportions.

Honestly I've never understood why /wt/ seethe so much about small watches. It's like seething at vintage cars because they don't have air conditioning. The whole point of dress watches is to emulate that classic 1950s/60s look. Buy that 39mm dress watch if you want, but I think it looks horrible. Pic related on the other hand is absolutely perfect in my opinion (it's 32mm).

All of these are too big and look cartoonish.
The reason is easy to understand : people believe BIG WATCH = BIG DICK. It's the same reason why so many retards drive SUVs eventhough they live in large cities. It makes their lives absolutely miserable but they refuse to acknowledge it because they've been told so many times that BIG THING = BIG DICK.

Pic related is a 33mm round watch on an average man wrist. it looks ABSOLUTELY PERFECT and you can just tell how comfy it must feel on the wrist. Why would anyone want some something bigger is a mystery to me.
