>sends in vintage Speedy for repair
>hey we needed to replace the band since it stretched too much(don't recall it stretching since I mostly have it on a NATO)
>okay... just be sure to save the original
>we ordered a band it might take a while since its coming from China
>okay like I said PLEASE SAVE THE ORIGINAL BAND
>get watch back
>new band
>they threw away the original band
>here's your invoice as well as the attached parts cost
The only redeemable part about this interaction was that the band said Swiss Made so I am assuming the tech didn't know what he was talking about.

>Would similar brands in their price range, like Omega, not just love to destroy the Rolex reputation
>like Omega
they are all doing the same thing
you think your rolex is 100% made in switzerland? lool

>Murkier still, although far from illegal, is the business of exports of Chinese movements to traditional watchmaking countries. For a watch to carry the all-important words “Swiss Made” on its dial, only 60 per cent of its value has to be added in Switzerland. Given everything is cheaper to produce in the Middle Kingdom than anywhere running on CET, large portions of a Swiss-made watch – whether the case, crown or pins that hold a strap in place – can therefore come from anywhere in the world.
>Who’s doing this? Don’t expect anyone to tell you. Talk to people who’ve visited the Chinese factories boxing up parts for the Swiss and they’ll go all 1984 on you.

Yes. Pretty much all entry level Swiss, e.g. Tissot, Hamilton, etc is Chinese made with an ETA movement. Most entry level Seikos are made in Thailand as well.

Reminder to all readers pure of heart and intact of anus:

Omegafags who are unable to COPE with the fact that they've overpaid thousands on shoddy junk from China based on a lie, liking the laughable cuckaxel, and having fallen for the worst watch memed by that fat brisbane cunt all seek to pull down and denigrate the brand that they know they should have bought: ROLEX
despite proof positive that their beloved jumped up swatch is made in the People's Republic and with there being NO evidence, neither tangible proof nor even mere hearsay, for Rolex being manufactured anywhere but the pastoral serenity that is Switzerland and certainly not the pollution clogged nightmare of China's factory districts.

Reminder to the cope cucks:

Seethe, cope and dilate

Reminder that the tricksy swiss are able to make a watch 100% in China and sell it to you as if it were the product of swiss labor at an elevated price.
Double reminder: omega, like most of the swatch group, has parts made in China because swatch has a factory there.

Be sure to pay accordingly for things made in China.
