>Is there a theme around your collection like accuracy anon?

In general I really enjoy highly functional designs. In vintage watches this draws me towards highly functional, series produced, late pre-quartz era mechanical watches that were relied upon as functional timekeeping tools and not just fashion accessories or status signaling devices.

I have a King Seiko 45-7001, King Seiko 5256-8010, a Rolex Datejust 16233 (my father's) and an Omega Speedmaster Mark 4.5 with the Lemania 5100 movement that fit within this theme. I am eventually looking to add an Omega with a 564 movement, a GP HF Chronometer, a Seiko 7016 chronograph, and a few other things down the road in keeping with this theme.

For modern watches I just tend to buy any watch where I like the design and quality for the price, though still with a preference for highly functional and/or austere designs. I enjoy both digital and analogue watches, both mechanical and quartz. The quality just has to be right for the price in my eyes, and I have to like the design.

>If so, what's your favorite timepiece and what's your grail?

As >>15997817 guessed, my favourite would by my 1972 King Seiko 45-7001 because it combines extremely impressive mechanical accuracy with a very austere expression of Seiko's grammar of design styling language, which I quite like.

My grail watch would be a Dufour Simplicity in 37mm with the roman numeral dial (pic related).

No need for a 4580-7010, I already have a 45xx and it's precision and accuracy are so good that I wouldn't see the point of chasing a VFA.

A Dufour Simplicity in 37mm with the enamel dial and roman numerals that only appeared on the 34mm versions (as far as i know). Cased in stainless steel for the added durability.
