That's more a subjective opinion than factual. Comparing that GS Hi-Beat dress watch to a Rolex GMT tool watch isn't exactly an equivalent comparison. Of course a pure dress watch is going to usually be more refined.

GS are _at best_ on par with their competitors. GS had the benefit of being cheaper but since the rebranding with the Seiko name being dropped they are aiming to target that higher-end of the market and are increasing their prices. That's why they are aggressively marketing themselves in the US and released those US-only limited editions (I own the SBGA387G). Once they directly compete with the other brands at the $5k-$10k range they will likely run into problems.

The other reason for the GS push is that Seiko are being killed in the low end market competing with the Apple Watch. It's very likely the SARB's and SKX's will be no more in a a few years time.
