hmm... yes it is a bit "soulless" for the weekdays and doesnt look quite as nice

but trad. chinese was becoming too clunky/bloated/difficult. (I guess thats a side effect of being such a long lived civilisation)There were tens of thousands of characters hardly ever used or in only in extremely specific situations. I dont think the average person can even write more than the commonly used ones.
