I like the BitterBrigade; at least when they are here, they won't feel alone.

Because I'm drunk. Buy your grails...don't have a 'watch journey'. Just save up and buy your grails, and you'll be happiest, longest, without wasting money. Buy for yourself, and no one else.

>>18078550

It's a Citizen 0100. When they launched the movement, they did a 1 piece pocket watch, and then put the movement into 850 watches (I think the breakdown was 100 gold, 250 mother-of-pearl dials, and 500 black dial). Mine is discontinued, but you could theoretically still get it on the grey market if someone is selling it. Check Chrono24. Amazing watch, but now they've started putting the movement into other watches that have beautiful dials and are less expensive.

It's accuracy is 1 second per year. Fucking awesome...only my Zenith 5011k is more accurate. Get one if you can.

Keep at it; languages can be difficult, but at least you're immersed in it. Things are fine with me, get to relax for a moment. I'll definitely let you know if I'm in your neck of the woods...though at the moment I doubt I'll be there anytime soon. Thank you for the offer though; it would be fun to get some katsu with you.

>>17983908
Sure, I'll play.

>>17983928
Agreed, though I think they get the proportions correct in some models of the Reverso...enough for me to think I should come out of retirement and buy a watch again.

>>17984000
Agreed. Not sure how they'll cope because the watch market is correcting to almost pre-covid prices on the grey side.

>>17984037
Watch out for trees, Fren!
>and don't forget the fours either.

>>17984043
Looks wonderful!

>>17984152
It's a great alternative with cool presence. Do you have one, Anon, or are you thinking of getting one? They're still reasonable on the secondary market.

>>17984157
It's good and bad. It leaves great deals out there to be had on awesome watches, but it also blows up the popularity of the professional to the point where there are more than enough Anons who wonder, 'what's all the fuss about?' I can't blame them...if they don't love the watch to begin with, the hype behind it won't make sense.

>>17984176
Most Zenii are great prices. Why not get a 1/100th chronograph? They're awesome in person and not many people know about them or have them. Prices are awesome for the tech.

>>17984200
Don't worry..you could have it polished out, since no one cares about clasps for value of the watch.

>>17984318
I am here, Fren. How are you? What are you wearing today?

>>17984410
I could, but no one here except the guy with flannel shirts has another Omega 1045 movement, and no one I know here has a cal. 321. Lots of Anons might have a Valjoux 775x variant, but everyone knows what these can do and what the pitfalls of them are. As for the 1861 and the 1120, these are everywhere and non-remarkable. Finally, no one has a 0100 or a Zenith 5011k here except me as far as I know...so there's not much to say about that either. But I'd be up for conversation if the subject was ideal.

>>17984508
Sleep tight, SinnFren.

>>17984519
I'd agree, but I think it's already known.

Nice Breitling! Old style, but if they are serviced they should run well. Good to finally see a watch of yours, BitterAnon; you are now one of us, and I want to be the first to welcome you! Please post more watches in your collection!

Hope everyone is doing well during the Christmas season!

Interesting! If things aren't going well in his life, maybe he just wants some comrades to walk beside him for a bit, just so he knows he's not alone.

>>17881182
I'm not sure, but that's a beautiful Reverso. I wish I could wear them...

>>17881183
Thanks AquaTerraChad. Sorry I've missed so much! How's the Omega running?

>>17881188
>>17881195
Maybe if people posted watches, it might make others feel confident to do the same.

>>17881199
Oh my....well, since Mort and I got songs each, someone needs to construct one for Whoretadello too!

>>17881223
Yes, it is I. I'm flattered, but I'm just a guy who bought watches, got the ones he always wanted, and is now sailing along the river of contentment wearing what I want when I want, and not being tempted by new offerings. I've been lucky, and I hope the same for all who lust after watches. I look forward to our interactions too; I've never seen that Tudor before...is it ceramic? The Credor too seems unusual, and the Nomos absurdly thin! Cool stuff! Are you the fellow seeing ladies-of-the-night?

>>17881249
I will help them to bear this burden, as long as it is theirs to bear.

>>17881306
Most Omega boutiques I've ever been to were part of a 'Swatch' boutique; I haven't seen one that was alone before. Usually they can be very busy, and if they sell jewellery too, it can be tough to get 'personal service'. As long as you know that, then it's okay. Best service I ever had was at Vacheron and JLC.

>>17881350
Speedies can take 50m, no problem; just make sure they have been pressure tested just prior. No sense taking risks.

>>17881357
Always wanted one, but the reports of servicing are abysmal.

>>17856085
Don't own one, but watchmakers love Rolex because they work without fuss. Maybe one day I'll buy one and see if it's true. My Omegas have been 'the same' though; working without fuss.

>>17856113

>>17856177
Omega 2599.80, Omega 376.0822, Omega 105.012-66.

>>17856207
It's nice, but I'll always think of GO as a cope for ALS. It's not fair, I know...but it's still what I think of.

>>17856334
Me? Or the Citizen Anon who has the Stilletto?

>>17856343
Because you can alter many things that are related to daily wear concerns: increase power reserve, decrease range of accuracy, etc. The basic lever escapement is the same, even with 3-d printed parts or silicon balance springs, so like Formula 1, watchmakers try to take certain elements to extreme precision to see if they get an advantage.

You are all special people, never forget that. If you feel like the world is crushing you, let the pressure fall off your shoulders and focus on being strong. If you're strong, you can make a difference, even if it's just something that you perceive as being small (i.e. helping an old lady cross the street). Buy what you love, and to hell with the rest. Good luck, and thank you for being real.

Yes, Holy Grail, as coined by the late great Chuck Maddox after he found one, didn't buy it, and unexpected spent lots of time looking for another one. Of all the Lemania 5100 variants in Speedmaster, this one is the most coveted due to the best legibility, relatively low production numbers, and sheer beauty.

>>17836820
The prices have skyrocketed, no doubt. If you really want one, just start saving. At the end of the day, no mechanical watch purchase today is emotion-free or a 'requirement'; they're all luxuries, even if they're 100$. You don't have to justify your purchase to anyone; all you have to do is be 100% happy with your purchase and wear it as much as you can.

If you do start seriously searching for one, just be aware that there are 3 known dials, 2 known bezels, 2+ handsets, 2 types of endlinks, and 2 types of crystals, in addition to other small details that you have to sift through. Just doing a Chrono24 search brings you some fully original, some with replacement parts, and some odd frankenwatches (though not necessarily made that way to rob anyone). As with any vintage watch, you should know your shit before dropping the dough.

Hello.

>>17631255
It's fun. I like Citizens.

>>17631501
Yes, but you really should do your research and have a watchmaker nearby that you trust. 5xx calibres are beyond excellent, but lots of watches from the 50s and 60s have been redialed (not necessarily nefariously). Lots of good deals to be had, but it depends on what aesthetic you prefer.

>>17631733
It's extraordinarily difficult if not impossible to predict what will be valuable in the future and what won't. I know old people who have valuable watches who see them as average, and vice versa. We never know, and if we're buying for investment, then it's a 'best guess' based on past experience and trends. If your greentext is true, then try visiting your grandfather to tell him you love him before it's too late.

>>17632035

Just uby what you love, and to hell with th rest. If you miss out, think of it as n opprotuntity to consolidate for th enext big purashse. you'll be fine. Family comes first.
