The coils on an accutron are also super fragile and are often damaged and go open-circuit, requiring replacement (since no one really wants to do the work to re-wind them with replacement wire). In fact, this is a major issue with the Slava Transistor, a clone of the accutron produced by the Soviets. You can tell this one is a franken, with the coils replaced by Bulova coils, because the holder is green instead of red. Original Slava could in working condition are extremely rare. Slava eventually gave up on producing this watch because the vibration from the nearby subway made it impossible to produce the index wheels I mentioned earlier with the needed precision.
