the black Sonderuniform was extremely modern in cut, very short, almost over the navel, skinny in the waist. The reproduction Sturmgeschützjacke in that picture is an extremely cheap knockoff worn in the wrong size on a portly gentleman.

Literally what the fuck are you talking about. German uniforms were the most classically tailored and stylish uniforms that were around at WW2. Why would you post a literal potato sack to make your opinion even more blatantly false.

Actually no, the sonderuniform does not fit that description because as I said before it was supposed to be used as protective gear in the tank, it was not supposed to be even worn outside. It was not supposed to be 'patriotic'. It had a modern short and sleek cut that was similar to other civilian 'bundjacken' of the time. The actual waffenrock was the patriotic piece of clothing that they didn't want to wear because it looked old fashioned. They wore the sonderuniform because it was FASHIONABLE to do so.
