Well done! Just make sure you wear it enough that it doesn't wear you. In a few years, no one will remember what film it's from. Then you win!

Thanks Anon; I haven't been around because work has been very busy lately, so occasionally it's necessary to inform the older Anons that I haven't yet been killed in the street for wearing my Donte...lol Regarding your All Saints; what happened with that? Did you end up getting one, or passing? They just had a very aggressive sale on their online merch...

>>14993401
You're most welcome.

>>14993436
Appreciate it Anon; leather jackets are/were a serious hobby of mine. There was a 'golden' period of manufacture between 2000-2010 where you had all the vintage ones being passed down, all the new designs used in movies and media, all the companies switching to Pakistan, and so forth. What you ended up with was a huge kaleidoscope of possibilities in materials, cuts, and finishes, and it was exceedingly difficult to narrow down where to get what design. Today, unfortunately, the higher end companies are selling less so the designs become more uniform, the mid-tiers are getting undercut by budget Chinese, and vintage is now too old to be worth the money to restore. Amazing what can happen in a decade. There's nothing left to learn now except who to trust (and that changes now, company to company, on an almost 6-month basis).
>pic for you

>>14993809
Fun! If you have cracks in the collar, consider if you need to condition the leather or not. Is the crack from wear-and-tear, or from abrasion from a beard or facial stubble?

>>14993821
No. But you weren't here for it; I was named 'Donte', thus I happily carry the moniker.

>>14993835
Do I detect jealousy?

>>14993853
Good! If he's altering/constructing the jacket to your measurements, you have a good chance it'll look superb. Just make sure you wear what you normally plan to wear underneath the jacket when you go for the second fitting. The difference between a t-shirt and a sweater is huge for these things.

You can, but I'd suggest getting rid of the suspenders first. Consider what Beckam does for the double-rider; slim tie, collared shirt, and proper trousers that might be blackish. Collared shirt + tie always works with the jacket, the problem is figuring out the bottom (trousers + boots).

>>14704519
Start with the function and work your way backward, that's how it always works in leather. So, military boots. Try a military style jacket...so try a leather bomber jacket like this:

https://www.asos.com/asos-design/asos-design-leather-bomber-jacket-in-black/prd/8252032?browseCountry=CA&browseCurrency=CAD&channelref=product+search&affid=14070&mk=abc&ppcadref=900161974%7C48566194767%7Cpla-490380980048&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIkbq3o8qV5QIVDNbACh3GMgJXEAQYAiABEgKFxPD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

Shitty company, but the design is what I mean. Or you could go for midsize look that is more naval.

https://www.amazon.com/Classic-Military-Peacoat-Cowhide-Leather/dp/B07GBNHCS4

These are all just suggestions just to get the brain going. If you go outside of the military purpose of the boots, then you have to find things that remind us of military to keep it working. That's why wearing these boots with a swimsuit would be shitty...there has to be SOME function involved in the choice.

I don't believe it...I've finally won!

>>14704756
Impossible.

>>14704958
Nope, just saw it with detached eyes. Sometimes we need someone else to see something that either we don't see or our mind corrects for our own benefit emotionally. You'll do the same for others, and the circle will continue.

>>14704985
It's okay Anon, there is no bubble to burst. I've worn this jacket for well over a year now, and it's easily the most enjoyable one to go out in. That won't change unless I get fat or lose a limb.

The pic is for you...what this jacket is supposed to go with.

>see everyone...it always happens when I post pics of it...lol Like Klockwerk...

Astonishing! I've never been labeled an Autist before in my entire life! I mean, it certainly didn't happen when I made the first DMC thread. I'm blown away by your originality. Such subtlety...such..depth! I can't wait to read your screenplay...

There are lots of problems with this jacket Anon. Part of the reason it looks so poor is the stitching. First, the zippers are exposed, which is in many ways a no-no with good quality leather jackets (the zippers are normally concealed, especially the mains, to prevent moisture/water from blowing in). Second, the main zipper should be bi-directional, as a single zipper is more prone to breaking at the waist unless you have a secondary attachment (like a belt). Third, the elbow stitching is useless: why would you hae many separate panels at the elbow? They don't provide more padding or reinforcement, nor do they provide extra material for the bend. They're a poor design choice, worthy of the Pakistani companies that make these kinds of designs. Fourth: This 'lack of purpose' can be seen in the shoulder pieces, which do nothing, as well as the waist clinchers which clearly don't have enough material in between to actually accomplish anything. Finally, the neck and cuffs are far too wide, with the neck being particularly ugly.

Hopefully that was precise enough for you. Sorry, but this jacket has many examples of design elements that are thrown into the leather jacket soup that you see coming out of Pakistan (one of the largest manufacturers of leather in general, due to their lack of environmental laws on what chemicals you can dump into public waters after use). I would avoid like grim death unless you want to look like a Migrant.

That would be a waste of every precious drop.

One serious thought about this though Anon. You have to look at any thing like this that isn't currently in style and ask yourself what is the primary purpose for such a garment? Think about it.

What are cloaks good for? They protect more precious garments against dirt, essentially. They're useful if you're riding a horse, or on top of a cart. They're useless if you can walk underground to the trains.

What is a cape good for? It elongates the top, providing protection but also a change in the shape of the upper body. A more refined cloak, you could say, a cloak for rich people who don't actually need it. So, you could look at it as more of a style addition than something practical.

Hoods? What are they good for? Keeping your head dry, of course. But the modern man has a hair style that will be utterly destroyed by the use of a hood. For the same reason, wearing a hood while wearing a cap on the head looks stupid. Function over form. The modern man doesn't need a hood, and if he had one, he wouldn't use it because his hair would be fucked.

You can use any of the things you mentioned, you can put them into your wardrobe. But for it to not be larping, you need a practical reason. I got my coat because I wanted a hooded leather jacket due to the shittonne of rain we always get. Everyone here has a hooded jacket of some kind, but leather is extremely rare. So, the purpose is there, and the rest comes along with it.

If I lived in Las Vegas, this would be stupid.

I love it...so many possibilities:

>Definition of boomer
>1 : one that booms
>2 : one that joins a rush of settlers to a boom area
>3 : a transient worker (such as a bridge builder)
>4 : a person born during a baby boom : baby boomer

My favorite though is this:

>boomers
>drugs
>a slang term for hullucinagenic mushrooms containing psilocybin
>'where dem "boomers" at?'

Can I assume you think I'm an hullucinagenic mushroom?

In all seriousness, is there anything in my advice that was either untrue or something we should discuss/debate? We can certainly leave animal hide ethics and morels (get it?) out of it...

It is me, but as far as I'm aware, no one has ever mentioned me outside the thread I created a month ago. Nor would I expect them to...the whole point of the thread was to keep this situation contained. The hijacking apology was regarding the topic of symbol vs. language script, and the meaning people might find in society. I'm just posting the jacket because I can't find any other pics to post that are appropriate...after all, it's an image board, right?

One day I might make a new thread on it though, if I come across any serious breakthroughs that warrant it. I'm sorry you hate my jacket though....it's fucking awesome, you're missing out in life. Were you one of the 'downers' in my original thread who didn't contribute anything and just whined?

Don't worry, I'll be gone soon. This thread was getting really quiet, so I thought I'd take the opportunity to fully flesh out some thoughts on a very interesting fashion point. I wouldn't normally do that if it was busy as hell.

So, what is your goal aesthetic, Anon?

No prob. Good luck, and keep in mind the longer road ahead. Will you wear that jacket 5 years from now? If the answer is yes, then you're good to go. If not, you may wish to rethink it given the cost.

Alright guys, I'm out. Nice chatting with y'all.

The great experiment. This is 'clean' Dante core, which is not something I'd ever wear in public but I thought I'd include here for laughs. The undershirt is standard, but clean, and the skinny black jeans are clean, undistressed.

Lots of things to talk about here. I'd never wear an undershirt in public...I think it looks lazy and shitty, even on a hot day (that's what Linen shirts are for). But of course it works with the coat because of the big neckline. This was not something that occurred to me at all until I started thinking about why v-neck shirts work so well with long coats. Undershirts have the same benefit: a long neck line. The colours of course work with the rest of the aesthetic, so nothing to talk about there.

It was interesting to me, to really think about the 'why' of this combination, as my instincts would never put these things together. Even an wearing a standard biker jacket with an undershirt to me seems 'dirty'....but I can understand why the designers went with this combo. In real life, it works on film, just because of the colours and shapes. Very interesting to me....
