I see your point about seiko's being disposable.. I'm currently looking into a Sinn 556.

My father always wears watches and he likes them, but he'd never spend more than 50 bucks on a watch for himself. He is a person that never treats himself to anything at all and has worked without as much of a break since he's been 16. We were piss-poor until about 2015 but he tried his hardest for me not to notice. Now, partly due to my career, I can finally treat him to something as a little thank you. We're on term where I can say for sure he'd wear it with pride because he'll understand the implications. His style would best fit business casual, I'd say. A watch like the Sinn 556 or Seiko Prospex would definitely suit him better than a G-Shock

Yeah, it's not like he's extremely rough. It's just that he's a bit absent-minded. I've never seen him break a watch before for that matter.
