second best bowie film behind merry christmas mr lawrence. i love nic roeg's films but this one has a bit too much cinematic new-wave wankery going on at times. that whole scene with the black dude swimming nude then kissing his wife before a long five minute scene about business deals that goes nowhere and is never brought up again is a good example of the many useless scenes the film has. knowing nic roeg, it was probably intentional, but i'd rather have the entire film revolve around bowie
