Of ALL the Japanese designers they could have called up, they have to get that dumb whore Koshino Junko to design this awful anime garbage with absolutely no connection to any miltary-sartorial tradition whatsoever (contrast this to the way the Russians redesigned their ceremonial guard uniforms after Imperial designs or how the US Army is bringing back Pinks and Greens) and make the JSDF into a bigger embarrassment than it already is.

The Imperial Japanese Army had three aesthetic sources: France, Prussia, and more traditional martial motifs (eg the cherry blossom or the hakama-style combat trousers used since 1930). During the Cold War, JSDF service uniforms were directly modeled on US greens like most other pro-western regimes in Asia (ROK, ROC, etc). But what is this? The motifs have no meaning, and are mostly lifted from exaggerated Prussian-style Litewkas and Kitels lifted from childrens cartoons. This is a waste of taxpayer money and an embarrassment.

They could have built on the rich Franco-Prussian and Samurai traditions that had been completely washed away by the ugly and overpowering yankee influence, reeking of putrid bourgeois liberalism and international finance capitalism since the occupation and the start of the Keisatsu Yobitai. But no! Much like the rest of the country, they have to call up some ugly whore "designer" to turn a constitutional joke of a military into a farcical cosplay army. God I can't wait for North Korea to finally nuke us.
