use RIT liquid dye.

RIT has two types - standard dye which comes in black and 'RIT Dyemore' which is for combination fabrics (cottonpoly blends)

I use 1 jug of RIT standard black dye w/ 1/4 bottle of RIT Dyemore to tackle both the cotton and poly aspects of the garments.

Typically for a pair of pants I will do 1.5 bottles Standard RIT blakc Liquid dye, 1/2 bottle of RIT dyemore and have good-amazing results.

Cotton takes dye reasonable well but needs to be very worn and washed out/faded before dying.

Wool on the other hand.... I have never gotten any of my cottons as black as my woolens. Pic relevant.
