as of december 25th 2023, I am officially DONE with the watch hobby. over the years I accumulated 8 cheapo watches and decided last fall to sell them all and buy one watch for myself to own and wear for life. after selling all of the cheapo shitter watches, I had around $1800 left. this is when I started doing my research. I wanted a "go anywhere do anything" watch that was accurate, simple, and good looking. after careful deliberation, I landed on picrel, a grand seiko sbgx261. it's one of grand seiko's cheapest watches (got it for just under $2000 new) and boy is it beautiful. pictures really don't do it justice. what's better is it sports a 9F quartz movement that gets +10 seconds every year (yeah, every year, it's insanely accurate) and that is supposed to last 50 or so years. the movement auto adjusts according to the temperature to preserve itself apparently too. I can slap this bad boy on my wrist, beat the living shit out of it, and always know that the time it is telling me is accurate down to the second. with this purchase, I will no longer spend hours and hours surfing the internet for "the one" and buying a bunch of worthless shitters in the process. this is a tough hobby to escape and I'm proud of myself that I did.
