back when goofninja was first mentioned on /fa/ in late 2008, brands that were more popularly associated w/ it were julius (this in particular), ann d, number number (n)ine, obscur, chronicles of never, dbss, yohji, and even undercover and cdg. since old /fa/ didnt know shit about designers, anything drapey n monochrome black was considered goofninja, which is a stupid term anyway.

the aesthetic kinda went dormant for a few years until 2012 when the dadcore spammer killed off #mesnwear and twerk and the goobcrew heralded an age of goof to /fa/, with tricky dick at the forefront.

it was a combo of that and that it just so happened to coincidentally coincide with the internet at large's fixation with the undisputed fashion champion of the world that brought rick to memetic hero worship.

old timers will remember pic related, which was often used to start/included in goof generals. p much represented how much /fa/ knew about avant garde designers back then, much less any designers at all outside hedi and tom ford
