Believe me, I agree with you; the 1963 was a placeholder for the Speedy Man on the fucking moon. But I got the 1963 at a time in my life when I didn't have the money for a Speedy and I wasn't sure if I wanted to have a manual-wind watch. At that time, a manual-wind seemed ludicrous if I were to pay so much money...to me an automatic wind should be a given at a price range above 150$. So, it was a test of if I'd like it, and if I'd like to wind it daily/every other day.

Remember too that the 1963 movement is essentially a clone of the original Venus movement, which is tried and tested. So, at least you're not getting a shit movement. The quality problems only come into play if the movement isn't clean or lubricated.

Chillax Anon. I haven't thrown my 1963 in the trash...but I haven't worn it in about 6 months...

Well I'm really tempted by a Roger Dubuis Much More...I've been trying to decide on a rectangular gold watch for quite a number of years, but I haven't found one that really hits the mark enough to pull the trigger. But that's the only 'dress' watch I want...everything else is either out of my price range or boring to my eyes.

You have a nice collection there; if you need something different, then perhaps something in gold, or maybe a watch with a different complication (like power reserve, day-date, etc.). But really, you have all you need.

I'd agree with your assessment; a microbrand has the capability of weathering the storm, the problem is that they risk losing identity by pivoting. The ability to pivot in my view was destroyed by the advances of quartz. I mean, how do you pivot from 'traditional technology, heritage, etc.' quickly? It can make one look like a politician.

Should I bake a new bread?

Beautiful Roger Dubuis...I only just discovered their watches.

>>15844854
Fun; I still need to decide what straps to go with the two new-to-me Omegas.

>>15844876
Why? Why not just buy secondary market?

>>15844894
The Cal. 321 has a window of about 16 seconds, and the Cal. 861 and 1861 is about 12 seconds. If you have a trusted watchmaker they can adjust it into a reasonable +/- if they know your habits of wear. Or you could do what I do and just reset the minute every week. It's really not a problem given that it's a manual-wind watch Anon, and lots of owners rotate it out with other watches, so resetting and winding are just normal procedure.

F.P Journe?

>>15844908
No, it's just not a great mechanical watch or the movement wasn't regulated for your wear.

>>15844910
Timex is generally fine....what have you got to lose if you like the design lines?

>>15844913
I'd go Black or maybe Fluorescent Green.

>>15844941
Outer and Inner. Outer - aesthetic feel and visual design, execution of finishing, legibility, and refinement. Inner - accurate performance over time, finishing of components, and reliability.

>>15844956
Fun!

>>15845020
Looks just fine!

>>15845054
Diverse collection is diverse. The only thing missing is a dinner/dress watch. Try Citizen...they're affordable and make nice designs.

Remember too that Omega no longer sells their replacement parts to independent watchmakers, so the industry of watchmaking outside of ADs is disappearing anyway. Expect to only get watches serviced by the brands. It's part of the cost, and you can't really avoid it today.

They have those services. Look them up on YouTube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6wppR-7eXF8

Has it been confirmed or is it still rumour? All I know is that they'll have to get NASA to certify it, or it won't be used in EVA.

Buying 2 watches of the same style is no problem Anon. Buy what you love, and wear them as much as you can. Anything else is stupid.

There's no simple answer to this; usually it takes time and 'climbing the ladder' of your career path.

I had to start working late due to lots of degrees, and even though I have expertise in my field, I still have more ways to go to increase my income. If however your work does not have opportunities to climb the ladder, then you have to invest in passive income streams and invest later on in things like real estate. Watches can wait.

A 'fuck off' wrist watch for me used to be in the 25000 range...but now that I have my Speedies, the desire has disappeared. Maybe you should just try on as many watches as you can, find one that you really desire (and I mean dream about for years), and then aim to save up and get it.

Both of these were bought off of e-bay, btw, for a fraction of the retail price. No box, no papers, but a reputable shop (so I know they're genuine). I had the Mark 40 serviced with Omega, and the 3570.50 will be serviced probably in a year or two from now.

A new challenger appears...

It looks odd because on the Reduced the chronograph module is stacked on top of the normal timekeeping module, so the chronograph pushers will be above the layer of the crown.

>>15718809
I will agree with you completely on that one. Any watch over 3.95$ quartz is a 'luxury' item, and should be seen as such. Value is not an issue unless you are doing comparative shopping for vintage or on the grey market, and even then the argument becomes 'I got this watch at a better price than people can normally get it', not 'this watch is actually worth xxx more because of xxx'.

I've only had the Mark 40 since July, so though it may have felt like 'years', it wasn't. That being said, I'm glad you asked!

The Man on the motherfucking moon is a perfect watch aesthetically in my eyes. Everything is perfectly balanced, from the subdial proportions to the bezel extensions. It's a watch that my 1963 was a place-holder for (i.e. manual-wind chronograph), and which I bought the 1963 to understand it before dropping thousands. Before that point, I'd never owned a manual wind watch...there was no purpose to that. But this showed me the convenience of it, as well as the mentally behind owning one (for me it comes down to worrying and learning not to worry about the power reserve).

The Mark 40 was a personal favorite of mine I'd wanted since I was a kid. The price was right, so I pulled the trigger. 3 weeks ago, a Speedy came up in the price range and condition I was looking for, so I pulled the trigger. It's a vanilla Speedy - 1861 movement, from around 2000 or 2001, superluminova, but with concentric circles in the subidials. As much as I want a vintage cal. 321, I'd rather have bought this to determine if I truly love the design on my wrist before dropping 10s of thousands on a vintage piece. So far, the trouble is that I don't want to leave either not being worn, so for right now I'm wearing them at the same time (one on each wrist).

I'm not sure what will happen in the future...I've only had this one for 5 days.

>shitty pic coming up.
