Why?
I think it's pretty fitting. Art is paintings, architecture, music, and so much more. Why shouldn't textile design/fashion be? It's just another way of expressing yourself. It's another visual way of enjoyment or provocation.

There's also numerous ways and examples where clothes have been used as ordinary "art". Can't find an example right now, but there are.
