Correct on the bracelet front. Though they were and still are ahead of everyone, it's just that everyone is catching up to them.
Kind of the same with the bezel if you are talking the visible changes you interface with often.
But every single part of the watch has gone through as many changes, developments and improvements over time as the bracelets.
