How do you decorate your places, /fa/?

I've been stuck with furnished apartments for a while now, since I'm constantly moving. I've been thinking of getting an unfurnished place next time around and decking it out in a Middle Eastern style - or maybe pseudo-Japanese, even though I won't have tatami mats.

Basically I need ideas for an apartment that has almost no expensive furniture, which I can just box and mail to my new address when I need to leave.

Do you have any suggestions for how to make this work, /fa/?
