Mulatto here, not sure what to do with my hair can somebody help

On the days when I can be bothered to shampoo, condition and fully comb, it looks like pic related (I'm a guy)

But if I go even one day without combing it gets all matted and looks like this:

It's pretty long now because I haven't decided what to do with it, any suggestions? Please don't suggest short/buzz cut, it looks stupid on me
