Happy Lunar New Year, Frens!

Wishing you all prosperity and good health! (yes, even BitterAnon too)

>>18010604
I think it's a great watch too...quite jelly of the perpetual calendar in it. Also love your pics!

>>18010663
Good eve, CredorAnon! No drink tonight...long days coming up and need sleep badly. Hope you're keeping well and in good company.

>>18010735
My old speedy might fit that category.

>>18010779
I think there are vintage Rolii with stick hands, but the mercedes hour hand has a practical function; in poor lighting or adverse conditions, you can clearly make out the difference between hour and minute hand due to shape. I think it looks great for Rolex, and is a defining feature.

Not sure what you want thoughts on, so I'll tackle all of them. Congrats on the bonus! Definitely try to talk the AD down; you've got nothing to lose. From what I've heard, the date window issue seems fixed, so hopefully you won't get a lemon. Have you tried it on yet? If you have it on the wrist and you love it, then why not? I'm not much of a fan of them, due to the thickness of the case, but that's a personal pet-peeve.

>>18010870
It's not impractical because bezels should be adjusted for full safety reasons off-the-wrist (it's the same reason why the PloProf has the button, requiring you to use two hands to do everything). As for the clasp...yeah, but the watch is far cheaper than other divers, so you get what you pay for (i.e. design and attention to heritage detail). I personally love the way it looks, except I find the lugs to be too dainty and fragile looking, hence why I've never gotten one. Which colours were you looking at? I think the bronze one looks awesome...

Old pic: today I put the old speedy on the NATO because I haven't done so in ages...love this combo.

I hope you have a safe trip Anon, and that you enjoy every minute of your vacation!

It was simple. I responded to a particularly belligerent anon and called him out on his bullshit with evidence. Even though all of my posts were watch-related, with pics, I was banned. It's the age-old problem; someone aggressively instigates against you, and then when you defend your position, they claim you are the one who is aggressive. We've all seen this before...

>>17923239
No idea Anon. Elgin used to produce excellent railroad-quality pocket watches...but I have no idea what kind of movement this thing might have. Good luck!

Alright, I'm off again. Have a great one, Anons!

Agree with you about the Japanese route; right now the Yen is still not doing well, so it's a great time to buy. That, and the federal laws in Japan that outlaw fakes. It's the safest place to buy if you buy without box and papers. Nice to see you too! What are you wearing Anon?

>>17907010
Yes, but you need to know your prices, and make sure you take someone with you who is Japanese so that you don't get screwed over.

>>17907019
Good to see you too. Hopefully it's all helpful. The Speedy pro will wear very different to the 57, so make sure you go into an Omega boutique and try on the actual watch. The Reverso also comes in different sizes, so again, make sure you try on the actual watch you plan on buying.

>>17907024
I have strong arms. Like Bolo.

>>17907038
Definitely worse than most.

>>17907049
Makes sense regarding the 57. I understand about the JLC straps, but if you're worried, just buy an extra now; easy as pie.

If you have lots of work events, JLC is better for sure if you're not going to wear the Rolex. Omega is always seen as a 'step down', whereas the JLC will be considered 'sophisticated'.

What do you think?

My pic!! You Anons are the best.

Yes. The only Speedies that went to the moon were cal. 321s. 105.012, 145.012, and quite possibly a few 105.003 models. The 861 movements do have space pedigree though; they were used on the space shuttle missions as well as the ISS. Other models of the Speedy have been flown by Russia (the Flightmaster, the Mark III, etc.), and astronauts have taken other versions of the Speedy like the Mark 40.

Given that more people will go to the moon soon, it'll be a moot point.

Mine is a moonwatch that didn't go to the moon, and that makes me happy.

It looks like this.

There are less expensive long straps though from enthusiasts as well.

Correct. Would the murderer still murder if the world was different and gave them different circumstances, rewards, and incentives? It's a serious topic, worthy of a long discussion. But not on this thread, since watches are the topic at hand.

Perhaps something related: how do you feel about the Swatch x pairings that have happened? This feeds right into what you're talking about....

>also, post what you're wearing now.

>>17818537
Well, we've all had to be patient, perhaps. Gives time for Rolex to figure out what to do with the 32xx movements, that's the way I see it. I tried on a day-date 40, and it looked fucking beautiful. Definitely a gold-gold-gold option I would consider if the time was right. They had two-tone Seadwellers in stock as well, but nothing stainless steel just yet. Give it a year or so, and then probably.

Everything that isn't survival requires extra cash in this world. Some people spend the same money on vacations as I would on a watch. It still comes out to the same thing though: if you make money to survive and save, and you happen to have 'disposable income' left over....what do you spend it on? It's not about being 'rich', it's about budgeting. If you don't have a job that allows you to budget disposable income, then watches are outside the field (like everything else that isn't directly tied to living). I shouldn't have to say that...

>one of my daily wears...which I worked hard for and enjoy every minute of.
